Long-term employees maintain a firm’s experience, wisdom and institutional knowledge. Annual or periodic raises are often a way firm’s keep employees. However, under some circumstances a long-term employee may reach the maximum amount they can earn. This is when long-term employees may begin to take their knowledge, experience and institutional knowledge elsewhere. This presentation will help administrators identify the circumstances under which salary caps occur and what a firm can do to mitigate the impact of official or unofficial salary caps.

  • Identify what an official salary cap is versus a circumstantial salary cap.
  • Identify the circumstances that may lead a long-term employee’s salary to reach an unspoken cap.
  • Identify ways to show appreciation to long-term employees when/if raises are not available.
  • Identify alternative compensation options when raises are no longer available.
